ABOUT US

The Kottayam Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Ltd. (Previously known as Kottayam District Land Mortgage Bank) was established on 12th of July 1959 under Section 7(1) of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act 1969 (Act21 of 1969) as Land Mortgage Bank. The main objective of the Bank at earlier stage was to provide loans to the farmers for redemption of Land, reclamation of land , Levelling , etc., and to save the farmers from the clutches of money lenders and big farmers as the rate of interest charged by them on loans was exorbitant.
On the recommendations of the NABARD, the Bank diversified its activities and started providing loans for purposes like Farm Mechanization, Dairy Development, Horticulture , Minor irrigation, Bee keeping , Land Development . With the changing scenario of Agriculture and growing credit need of farmers in the Taluk, the Bank from time to time incorporated more lending activities like loan for transportation of Agriculture produces from field to market / mandies, Rural Hosing Scheme against security of Agricultural land since 1996. Other schemes like Transport / Rural Infrastructure Development in ( Education, Health, and Tourism) Cash Credit for Traders , Kissan Samurdhi Scheme and Haritha Hybrid Scheme are also implemented from time to time

The Kottayam CARD Bank was established on 12th of July 1959 with the Taluk of Kottayam and Idukki . Now Our banks’ area of operation limitted in Kottayam Taluk Only.The Head Office of the Bank functioning in Banks’ own Bulding near Kottayam Head Post Office. Asper Govt rules, (i.e. implementation of one Primary bank for each Taluk ) Now its area operation limited to Pallom Block, Ettumanoor Block & Pampady Block. Our bank has two branches. Pampady and Ettumanoor.Bank functioning with 16 staff. After bifurcation of Idukki, Vaikom Taluk Bank & Changanacherry Bank. the bank has 5724 members as on 31.03.2019. Bank was working in profit since the last 14 years .Our bank pioneered in the social upliftment of the rural population within the limits of Kottayam District.Various Schemes and plans including housing loan and project loans mainly focusing on the agriculture sector has been introduced in the course of past 60 years. Bank provide better service to our members through our staff & Managing Members. Audit Classification of our bank is ‘A’ Grade.
